The Best Online ESL Company for Teaching ADULTS

The Best Online ESL Company for Teaching ADULTS

Hi everyone! It’s me Carli and today I
want to talk to you about what is the best online ESL teaching company for
teaching adults. Yes. All right. So if you’ve never seen me before my name is Carli
and I work for 51Talk it’s one of the biggest highest paying online
ESL teaching companies and it’s great I have other videos about 51Talk if
you want to learn more about it but this video is specifically about companies
that will allow you to teach adults if you’ve never seen any other videos about
what the top online ESL teaching companies are I talked about the VIP kid,
Dada ABC, 51TALK, Say ABC, Q kids and Magic Ears and those all of those
companies like allow you to teach children pretty much. I’m
making this video specifically about how to teach adults because my friend
Christy. Hi Christy! was asking me about what about companies that allow
you to teach adults I don’t my kids and I’m like okay I’ll help you find some
companies that allow you to teach adults so I found three companies that I think are
great for only teaching adults and these companies are Hujiang. Who Jang? okay Likeshuo. I’m not sure if I’m saying that right and iTutor also known as tutor
ABC also known as our iTutor group is like the P Diddy Puff Daddy of online is
teaching company so I picked these companies because they’re all really
flexible they all pay really good because most companies that allow you to
teach adults don’t offer the best pay okay but all these companies teach
really pay very well up to $24 and two of the companies have really
really really good reviews they hardly have any bad things about them online so
I think they’re all great companies and good to work for if you want to teach
adults. Alright, so in this video I’m gonna tell you who you teach what you
teach when you teach the pay everything you need to know so first of all let’s
talk about who you teach alright I I said that all these company is allowed
to teach adults but let’s talk about what kind of classes they are all right
so with Hujiang you can teach adults or K through 12 the adult classes are great
because they’re audio only which means you don’t even have to see the students
and the classes are twenty five minutes long and one-on-one so you’re not
teaching any groups with Hujiang at all with Likeshuo it’s adults only never
have any kids at their company which is great and you will be teaching adults
that are intermediate to advanced level they have different class sizes that can
be one-on-one 1 on 4 or 1 on 15 lecture style classes the classes are a bit
longer they’re up to 45 minutes well they are 45 minutes okay and with
iTutor you will be teaching adults junior tutor which is ages 10 to 17 or kids and
those classes are one-on-one or small groups and they are 45 minutes long
alright so now let’s go on to when you can teach something really important to
keep in mind is that all these companies have students in Asia so you’re going to
be teaching their evening time hours depending on where you’re living in the
world that could be awful or that can be really good you might be teaching really
early in the morning or you might be teaching in the afternoon so let me just
give you a general idea of the hours they’re offering with Hujiang you can
work Monday through Friday 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Beijing time which translates to be 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time
and the weekends they’ll allow you to work
9:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. which is 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time they
wanted to teach at least 10 hours per week will fluctuate you can teach 24/7
and they will allow you to teach 24/7 but their peak hours the busiest hours
they have are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday Beijing time or which is
6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and then on the weekends you can work 10
a.m. to 10 p.m. Beijing time or 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Eastern Standard Time and then will iTutor group their hours kind of I don’t
know and but pretty much you can work 5:30 p.m. to 10 to 11:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday ok but totally talk to them when you go in for the interview
because the hours that they’re looking for kind of depend you know but they
want you to work either 5 to 7 hours per week and two of those hours have to be
in the weekend but like I said definitely talk to the person who you’re
getting interviewed by because what they require kind of depends on who
interviews you it depends on interview all right so now let’s talk about who
can teach okay so if all these on my I’ll teach you companies I have great
news for people who are non-natives you can all teach for these companies all
these companies hire non-native speakers which is great but of course they also
hire natives some of them are looking for natives from specific countries okay
so Hujiang wants natives who are from Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia the
USA, the UK or South Africa Likeshuo looks for native to her from the South
Africa USA UK Australia Canada or New Zealand and iTutor Group is looking for
natives that are from the US the UK or Canada I know for sure that with iTutor
Group if you are a native they’ll pay you more I’m not so sure about what
Huijiang or Likeshuo if you get paid more if your native or what. With all
these companies they pretty much have the same requirements they want people
who have bachelors degrees but Likeshuo will hire you if
you are in the progress of getting your bachelor’s degree they’re looking for
people of teaching experience and they’re looking for people with teaching
certifications so a Celt TEFL a TESOL but don’t worry if you don’t have any
teaching certification you can easily get a TEFL. Go on Groupon you can get one
for like five dollars and usually they’re between a hundred a hundred
twenty hours something like that but it doesn’t take that long to to do it it
doesn’t usually take that let me do it so check out the information section in
the video if you want to learn more about how to how to go through Groupon
to get your TEFL okay but getting a teaching certification even though it
doesn’t really take that much time or effort it will really help you get hired
by these companies it’ll give you priority with a Hujiang and it’ll it’ll
you’ll be more likely to get hired if you get this teaching certification okay
alright so I also need to mention about as far as requirements with Hujiang
they want you to have an internet speed of 10 upload and download which is
really steep especially if you’re not living somewhere that has good internet
like me I usually live in Spain and the internet is not that good so I couldn’t
work for huijiang even if I wanted to because my internet speed by no means
will ever be 10 uploaded just kidding alright I also look Hujiang they don’t
want you to have a MacBook you can’t work for them if you have a Mac you have
to have a PC but if you have a Mac there is a way to put a PC interface onto your
Mac to work for them if you really really want to work for them and you
don’t want to buy a new computer it’s possible just need to do your research
to find out alright but good news is that none of other companies have any
kind of steep requirements like that so you should be fine if you have like
decent internet and if you have a decent computer with decent specs and whatnot
ok alright so now let’s go on and talk about flexibility. Flexibility is super
important with these companies because oh my goodness some of these companies
have intense penalties they will fire you so fast your
we fired so fast okay so flexibility is really important with these companies
with Hujiang they want you to ask for time off ten days in advanced ok that’s
reasonable if Likeshuo they will fire you for more than two and absences per
month That’s pretty intense so you have to be
really careful with them they also will give you a 300 percent penalty fee for a missed class. Yeah 300 so multiply however much they pay times three and
that’s how much they charge you for missing a class they also charge you
fees for being late – so Likeshuo is really intense and with iTutor group
they have penalties for having no like being a no-show you know or for
having low ratings from your students so they I would say the most intense is
definitely Likeshuo and then after that iTutor and then Hujiang. Now let’s
go ahead and talk about what you’re probably the most interested in and that
is pay. Money! So good news is that all these companies pay very well Hujiang
pays anywhere between 12 to 20 dollars per hour okay yeah so when you go in for
that interview it’s really important that you do well so that you can try to
get one of the higher pays starting out they pay twice a month which is great
because most companies only pay once a month and they pay via Payoneer. It’s
something like PayPal. I’ve never used it before but it’s good and you can check
out the information section below if you want to learn more about Payoneer
another good thing about huijiang is that they have more opportunities for
you to work within the company besides teaching so if you work for the company
you might get hired to do something else like social media outreach I don’t know
but having an I think it’s getting you have more potential to make money
besides with teaching with it with Hujiang which is great
with Likeshuo they pay anywhere between 10 and $18 per hour and that
depends on bonuses so they offer some types of bonuses and you can earn even
more with Likeshuo by making course work for them so both of those companies are
great Huijiang and Likeshuo because they offer other ways to make money and with
iTutor group they pay between 16 and 24 dollars an hour for group classes for
people that are from the USA the UK or Canada other people is not so good maybe
they pay between 8 and 11 dollars based on bonuses and your bonuses are based
off of attendance and your participation so it’s not so good for people that are
not from the USA UK or Canada okay so now once talks to you about the
interview processes with all of these companies with Hujiang the process can
be anywhere between 15 days and six weeks okay so maybe depends on when
you’re going to get hired but different people set different things but that’s a
pretty big arranged 15 days to 6 weeks and their training is paid at a rate of
60 percent of whatever rate they offer you okay and it has a reputation for
being quick and easy so that’s good with luxury you have to do register do some
kind of demo than some kind of pre job training everybody says the interview is
very quick so that’s great and then with iTutor group you have one interview and
then a two-hour online training and their interview process is pretty simple
and easy. Which one is the best company to work for? That really depends on yeah
it’s whatever you like and what you think is the best me personally I don’t
know what I would choose between these three. I would probably apply to them all and then pick
whichever one offered me the best rate because like I said all of these
companies they they kind of pick and choose how much they want to pay you
based off of how well you do in your interview and your credentials so I hope
you guys like this video if you liked it please

comment section below and I’ll try to get back to you if you have any
questions or you would like me to make a video about anything particular go ahead

so alright thanks for watching. Bye!

  • i wanted to make a business in teaching to the older ones internet basis, do you think it's a good business idea ?

  • Hey Carli! As always great video! I am trying a new company called Native Camp. Itโ€™s also for adult students.

However Iโ€™m not sure about PAY. Have you heard of them?if so can you do a video? Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Carli. Really liked your video, and that smile of yours is great! I used your link to apply to 51 talk, filled out the required info. but they told me that there is not any time available for an interview/demo. Could you tell me what they will be asking me, and what do I have to do for a demo? PLEASE???

  • Great review, subscribed and looking forward to many more videos. Just a bit of some constructive criticism, Display the points (i.e. listing of top ESL companies) a bit longer, I had to whip out my notepad and keep pausing/rewinding to jot them down. Cheers from New Jersey… And 1:13 lol

  • Thanks for doing the research on this๐ŸŽ‰ I need daytime work!! I do Cambly but they pay crap. I appreciate you!!

  • Thank you, Carli, for your videos.ย  Have you heard if Hijuang hires African Americans?ย  I've heard some of these companies do not prefer people of color, despite if we are native American English speakers.

  • looking at the comments I see there is a certain amount of racism but no-one mentions the equally bad ageism!! I am a fit 68 & always refused any job in favour of younger less experienced graduates (i have TEFL & Degree & 30 years exp)

  • For likeshuo, they pay me 85 yuan a class. Is that normal? I just graduated and the TA told me it was pretty high in my condition :/

  • Shame on Likeshuo. As a white woman I appreciate your note. As women we need to stick together. Not good enough for all my sisters not good enough for me. I'm also going to send a note to them looking for an explanation and policy changes. I'm sorry this is happening.

  • I have no idea if it's a cultural thing or what but I've recently been hired by Likeshuo and itutor and all of the companies that I've dealt with have zero clue that good teachers are their best asset. You are a faceless number (especially with itutor) and each one has their own little hidden gimmicks with their pay structure to make it seem like you have all this earnings potential but when you work through the numbers they are just trying to nickel and dime you out of every dollar (RMB) they can. It's actually quite insulting to any half-intelligent person.

  • Carli, thank you for such informative and entertaining videos. I love the pink/purple flowers in the background – what kind is it?

  • They don't want to hire black teachers because 85 percent of black people in America refuse to speak correctly because they think it's a white thing to do.

  • Carli, you ROCK! Thank you so much for all of the hard work & dedication that you put into your tutorials, they are truly adding value to our lives. Thanks for your time and have a phenomenal 2019. Blake. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Great info! You made me laugh a ton with the impromptu sound effects as well ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

  • Thank you so much for this video, I have experienced this first hand myself as a Canadian of Middle Eastern descent a certified educator with a masters degree and years of experience, yet in some places like South Korea public schools I couldnt so much as get an interview as soon as they saw my name and picture on their application form. I dont understand in this day and age teaching your child to be a bigot instead of that the world is a diverse places where people of all shades of the rainbow, beliefs etc exist. That interaction, getting to know and working with different people is the way to go, because hey you might learn something and get to like things that you might have never known about.

  • Your advice on the Groupon International Open Academy TESOL was so helpful, thank you! I was able to get my ESL credential quickly and easily ๐Ÿ™‚

  • thank you this was awesome and informative. Love love your energy. I am in Asia, looking for extra income. Applied to Huijang today. I will apply to ITutor. keep up the good work. Thank you for real feedback.

  • I applied for a job
at Likeshou, and the guy was 11 minutes late sounded like if he just woke up, and had terrible background noises. A very disrespectful person so I had to turn down that job. WHo the hell train these idiots? A and this guy couldn't even speak good English,

  • I wish I could say more about LIKESHOU but all that I can say that the staff was
super disrespectful at least with the guys I dealt with. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

  • Carli, I just found you for the first time. You are a beautiful and adorable personality. I am in the process of taking my ESL/TEFL certification classes. I have a Bachelor of Science degree. I am so excited about getting into teaching from the United States. I have spent the last several months educating myself about "the process and what to expect" etc. Thank you for your informative video.

  • You are awesome, I've searched for this info for so long and you had everything in one videos ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
FORSHORE I HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOU AND SHARED, ONCES AGAIN THK YOU YOU AWESOME GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿต๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿฅ‡

  • Thankyou for sharing this. I love your video, it was very informative and fun. You are a beautiful lady with a beautiful personality ๐Ÿ‘โค

  • Are you teaching for a regular job in a school in Spain while also teaching online for 51Talk? Do they provide your housing, medical, and airfare?
How is deductions for US taxes and soc security done?

  • These are great videos, Carli. I really appreciate your style. ๐Ÿ˜€ You inspired me to make this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC1JztcGZdg&t=209s <3

  • Nice presentation with a lot of useful insight. Thanks , By the way, what is your teaching English specific experience? I taught in Barcelona and what a challenge just to make 8 Euros an hour. Thanks again

  • Would you know if there's an online English tutoring platform that doesn't require a TOEFL or similar certificate to be considered? I know that one of them is Cambly. I applied with them almost three weeks ago but they still haven't activated my account.

  • OK, so I came across this after seeing another video about a children't online tutoring and I have to say I am so glad I saw this. Very informative, practical and helpful that tells it like it is.

  • Know that iTutor has 45-minute classes you CANNOT opt-out of, and even in US the base is only around $7.50 for the class and they justify the lower rate because it is "possible" to get paid a little more for each good review. These are classes with 1-3 students, and if they book only one (or only one shows), you can't make more than $13.50 for the hour, and that's only if the student leaves feedback and it's a 10. Otherwise you only make $7.50. They also DEDUCT from your base for poor reviews in these classes. I tried simply not booking in the evening to try to avoid them, but now they have been booking these longer classes at 7:30 am for me (CST).

  • Thanks so much Carli for this super informative video! I am so glad I watched your video to find out I can get TEFL certification for super cheap on groupon because wow! its really expensive on the official website of TEFL/TESOL. You literally saved me 100s of dollars! THANK YOU!

  • Hello Carli Mitch. Something is wrong with the Huijang page. It says it is insecure or dangerous on the top left of the website domain.

  • Hey there, Carli! I tried to apply to 51Talk right after seeing your awesome video but didn't get past the registration page!

It will not accept my cell phone format entry. Any suggestions?

  • DO YOU KNOW IF THEY REQUIRE ETHERNET CORDS FOR THE INTERNET OR IF IT CAN BE WIRELESS INTERNET? ASKING BECAUSE A COMPANY I DEALT WITH IN THE PAST WANTED AN ETHERNET CORD AND MOST UPDATED LAPTOPS IN THE U.S. DON'T HAVE ETHERNET CORD PORTS IT SEEMS.

  • iTutorGroup offered me a rate of $3 per hour! Because I live in South Africa. They don't pay properly if You are not from the US, UK or Canada. Really crazy, that is exploitation and no-one should work for that.

  • I was offered a job at iTutor but they only offered me a base pay of $2 for 45 minute classes, $8 for 25 minute classes. This is because they discriminate based on where you live. Iโ€™m from the UK but live in Mongolia. Iโ€™m very qualified and experienced so I turned down iTutor and kept looking. I ended up with Whales English where I average $25 per 50 minute class. ($22 base plus $3 bonuses based on attendance). Iโ€™m really happy with them but Iโ€™d like more hours. There isnโ€™t much flexibility, on the bad side.

  • OK, so now youโ€™ve heard Carliโ€™s super-exciting run down, hereโ€™s the wake-up call: go to Glassdoor and read the reviews on each of these companies. Itโ€™s not all beer and skittles, believe me! Iโ€™m speaking from experience with all three companies.

  • Very informative….I glad I watched this…I googled that groupon TEFL class before viewing….is it a legit certification? Is there a test at the end of 120hrs….thanks in advance

  • Just what I needed to hear! I teach kids mostly but teaching on Cambly has been so interesting since I can speak to adults! But you were right about how long it takes to hear from them!

  • You have done an excellent video here. I hope my question doesn't sound too ignorant. Do all of these companies provide lessons?

  • I was looking at the Huijang website and it says students are from 5-18 years old. I didn't see the adults. Have you worked for them also? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hi, Carli. I think your video and the information is fantastic. Thanks so much. I tried to go on the link provided to apply for hujian and I tried again from google and I got an error page. Could you please help me get the page or give me any leads on how to contact these people?

  • I also live in Spain and the internet isn't the best so I can probably count that out as well. Do you only teach online or do you also teach in school? I teach in a language academy but I'm also thinking about teaching online again. I used to teach for ABC360, but I hated it.

  • TutorABC is "like the P.Diddy……Puff Daddy of online teaching"…
Why? Is Puff Daddy a crackhead mugging people?

TutorABC is well known as the WORST online ESL company. They pay $6 – $10, not $24. And they treat their teachers like shit.
And they only give you chinese morning and evening hours, 3 hours each.

  • How many day of leave do Itutor give. Are there set number of days we can take or can we take unlimited amount of days off? Also can a laptop be used instead of a PC?

  • The very first thing you might state in your video is the B.A. degree requirement so that you don't waste people's time. Please read reviews for 51 Talk and these other companies on sites such as Glass door.

  • I've been trying for literal years to get a job with Hujiang but I can never seem to find their official website. Never seems to work for me.

  • Groupon 120 hr TESOL takes 7 hours. Don't expect to learn anything. But you will get the piece of paper. If you know how to teach language and get results then go for it.

  • Carli, Iโ€™m amazed that you spend your free time helping other teachers with your research and your YouTube channel. Your videos are cheerful and informative and useful. Iโ€™m simply amazed at you, you wonderful person, you! I really commend you! Thanks for posting these…

  • Thank you for this vital info. Please are all these companies global?? Or its specific to some countries?
