LG releases new V20 smartphone; Galaxy Note 7 sales to resume Oct. 1

LG Electronics has released its much-anticipated
new smartphone, the V-20. Sales began in Korea on Thursday and will
start overseas in the coming weeks. Rival Samsung Electronics, meanwhile, less
than a month after it began a massive recall of its new Galaxy Note 7 device,… plans
to restart sales of the smartphone in Korea this Saturday. Hwang Ho-jun has more. LG’s latest smartphone, the V-20, features
a 5-point-7 inch handset, and is the first device to ship with the latest version of
the Android operating system, Nougat. Release dates for the V-20 overseas will be
announced in the coming weeks, but in Korea it’s now available through the nation’s three
major mobile carriers. Retailing at roughly 8-hundred-20 U.S. dollars
and billed as a “premium” smartphone, the V-20 has a secondary display on the front
and comes with high-end audio and camera functions. Customers can choose from three colors — titanium,
silver and pink. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics’ latest device,
the Galaxy Note 7, will be available for purchase in Korea again starting this Saturday, October
1st,… after a massive recall and replacement campaign. The replacement devices will show a green

suspended in early September, just days after its launch, due to a few reported cases of
its battery catching fire while being charged. The company recalled the phones and offered
to swap the defective devices for new ones or a give customers a refund. The Galaxy Note 7 will be available for sale
in Europe starting on the 28th of October. Hwang Ho-jun, Arirang News.
