Job interview tips (Part 1): Five quick job interview tips

In this week’s job search tip, we’re gonna
give you a couple quick interview tips. We’re gonna go over some of the most
common questions job seekers ask us about interviews and break it down for you.
That’s coming up! Hey guys, I’m Kim with Snagajob, and welcome to job hunters, your weekly advice show. Where we give you everything from job interview tips to resume advice and everything in between. Today we’re going
to fire off some quick interview tips for you. We’re gonna look
at some of the questions that jobseekers ask us and some tips that employers tell us are
important to know. Let’s get started. How early should I arrive for my job interview? You want to get to your interview about 10 minutes early. Anything before that can make things a
little awkward you just kind of standing around. And anything after that runs you the
risk of being late to your interview and you really don’t want to do that. What should I wear to my interview? You wanna look as professional as
possible. Whatever you do stay away from jeans and flip-flops. We
could not tell you that enough. Now we’re gonna go over in another
video specifically what you should wear in different types of interviews. What should I bring to my interview? You definitely want to bring copies of your resume with you. Even if you think that they’ll have a
copy of your resume, you wanna be prepared just in case. And bring some copies of your references.
If they don’t ask for it you can always offer it up at the end of the interview
to show that you have some people who will vouch for you. And always bring a pen and notepad. It
looks like you’re really interested in the job and you can take notes on any
questions that you have. How should I prepare for my job interview? You really want to make sure that you research the company. Look at the products they sell, what
they’re passionate about as a whole, and come prepared to answer questions about
that. Also, I’ve probably said this about a thousand
times but I’m gonna tell you again you need to practice before you go into
a job interview. Practice, practice, practice. Practice! Sit with a friend or family member and
have them ask you common job interview questions and make sure that you are
ready and prepared to answer them. This way it will help you ease the
nerves and you’ll be ready for whatever they throw at you. What happens if I need to reschedule for my interview? Now this can be a little scary. But remember, employers are people too
and they understand that things do come up. But you only wanna reschedule if you’re really sick, if you’ve had surgery that day, or if you have a family emergency. You don’t want to reschedule for lame reasons like my cat looks depressed. And that’s an actual answer we’ve
heard before. Thanks for joining us today if you like
