Job interview questions and answers (Part 8): What annoys you?

Job interview questions and answers (Part 8): What annoys you?

In this week’s job search tip, we’re going to be going over how to answer the job interview question what annoys you. We’re gonna give you some examples of what you shouldn’t say and some examples of how you should answer it. That’s coming up. Hey guys, I’m Kim with Snagajob, your number one source for hourly jobs, and welcome to Job Hunters. Our weekly job search advice show. Where we go over everything from interview tips to resume advice, and everything in between. Now, this week, we’re gonna take a question that Victoria asked us on YouTube. Victoria asked us how to answer the job question What annoys you. Well, Victoria, I’m glad you asked. And you came to the right spot. We have found an answer for you. Employers are trying to figure out if you’re gonna make a good fit in this position. So, if you answer things like People. They really, really annoy me. For some reason, not everyone can understand that I’m always right and that really annoys me. My Mom. OMG. She’s always bothering me to try and get a job. I’m trying here Mom. Underwear gnomes. I really hate small children. Yuck. People who leave the toilet seat up. Really?! Just put it down. Just put the toilet seat down. So I have this friend on Facebook. They’re always posting things about their travels. Their food. Their dog. People who smell like BO. Ew. Or you come across as a bully by saying things like Dumb question. Hello! Stupid people. I really hate picky customers. I mean, seriously. Just make up your mind already. They seriously annoy me. Those answers really tell the employer that they should keep you away from customers, and that you might have a bad attitude. So you really want to concentrate on two things. One, what you say. Will this have anything to do with the job that you’re interviewing for. And two, how you say it. Do you get really mad and angry and kind of scare them a little? So what you really want to do is keep your answers professional so it makes it look like you’ll be an asset to the team. Boredom. I’m the type of person who always needs to be working on something. I feel like I would really thrive in a fast paced environment because I can’t stand just standing there doing nothing. Laziness. I’m always trying to better myself and push myself to the limit. I don’t really like wasting potential which is why I’m a pretty motivated person. I really don’t like being late to things. It really bothers me. So I always show up about 15 minutes early. These answers really show the employer that you’re a hard worker and are really gonna do the best you can in their environment. So, Victoria, you told us that you heard an example in this questions where someone talked about mismatching socks. And that could be fun too. It’s kind of a light-hearted approach on things and to be honest, it annoys me too. So I really hope this answers your question Victoria, please let us know what you think. • I actually have my first interview in about 2 hours and have been watching snagajob videos to help ease my nerves about it. Now I know if I get asked this question, I can answer honestly that lateness annoys me and I always make a point to be early! Thank you 🙂

  • I got the job! (A cashier, even though I have no retail experience) and my first day was today 🙂 Snagajaob has been SO helpful in my job hunt and I really appreciate your videos 🙂

  • this video annoys me! Bahahahaha! No seriously, my thought is an interviewer can tell when you are giving them a BS answer or an answer that you think they want to hear. I've had a lot of interviews over the past year and that's what I've learned.

  • That's true, MWmota. We just wanted to give a few examples of some good answers. You definitely want to be yourself.

  • Thanks once again for providing both an informative as well as funny video about what goes on in interviews. Often times I find I can be at a loss for words during an interview and it's good to know I'm not the only one also what are my options.

  • Hey, Snagajob team! Could I possibly mention that something that annoys me is when someone does not pull their weight in a group effort? Then, reflect upon how learning to work well with others is imperative towards the efficiency of a project or life, in general. Furthermore, I have experience in working with others and believe it is an important and useful quality I can bring to the job.

  • Congratulations, zepti1235! Woooo! Thanks for sharing your great news with us! It really makes our day! We'd love to hear more about your successful job search story! Maybe you have some advice for other job seekers?

  • The woman on 4:25 is so annoying. Really, that too many bloopers? How can you expect people to give serious answers in real life when you yourselves cannot give them in a professional manner. I know these are bloopers but job applicants cannot have bloopers in thwir interviews. I hope you get my point. I still love your videos and will continue to watch them. I will just not watch the bloopers part, I guess.

  • I'm sorry you feel that way. We know that job searching can be very stressful and there's a lot of pressure with job interviews. We added bloopers to our videos to help relieve some of that stress with a little laughter. We want our videos to be informative and help ease the nerves when it comes to preparing for your big interview. We will take your thoughts into consideration going forward. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Hi, Eva! Great question. The answer to this question will probably be very similar to the answer to the question, "Why should we hire you?" You want to talk about your strengths but in a way that shows that you've done your research on the company.

  • Would you say that answering that rudeness annoys you and because of that I am always careful to be polite, say please and thank you, hello and goodbye, and ensuring people leave with a smile.

  • can you give me some tips , because am looking for a job on a cruise royal carr… as wine steward so can you tell me what type of questions will they ask me? Or these are the questions that they can ask me?

  • Very helpful. Seems like it's better to come across as a hater of laziness and unproductiveness than actual human beings.

  • How do you answer "why did you pick this location?" I have been asked this and I feel like my answer was not very good.

  • This is probably way late but I'm going to try anyway..So I've never had a job before and my first interview is tomorrow, but I'm really nervous. How to I 'prepare'?

  • I just turned old enough to get a work permit and I have really been looking forward to getting a job. These videos have really helped me prepare for potential job interviews, thank you snagajob.

  • I've been interviewing job candidates for 20 years now. It is a real battle to find out what candidates are really like, because of the"canned answers" like you see in this video. How many times do I have to hear "I am the type of person that always has to be busy… blah, blah, blah"? Do you think we employers don't know these prepared answers when we hear them? This is why you will often take a personality test because we want to know the real you. The prepared answers like: "I work well in teams, and great on my own too" just make us want to puke. You wanna know how to stand out? Just follow-up twice after the interview. None of the other candidates are calling back to find out if they got the job. It shows initiative and risk-taking. Those are qualities that employers would love to hire for.
