Adulting 101

Adulting 101

(upbeat guitar music) – Today here at Cedar Ridge High School, we’re holding our third class
in our Adulting 101 series. We started off with some cooking classes. We’re partnering with
the TouchPoint chefs. They are the chefs for the Seton hospitals
here in the Austin area. I knew that they wanted
to do some outreach here in the Austin area and that they wanted to work with kids. – For the kitchen piece of it, we’re teaching them basic
skills on how to survive. Not really high-end culinary stuff, but just when they graduate how are they gonna feed themselves? – The best part about Adulting 101, is that I’m learning something! And I am not really a person that’s good on learning new things, but I’m taking a step. I cut things for the first time. – For other people joining Adult 101, you can learn more things so you can actually start
eating healthier for more parts, eating more balanced diets. – Our Adulting 101 classes will have not just cooking classes but also some money management classes and some job interviewing tips, resume writing, and we hope to even include
some basic automotive skills at some point. – [Ralph Voiceover] I hope to
have impacted them in a way that they’re more successful in life. And that they can hopefully
remember these days of learning and not be afraid of cooking or of food. – Because of this cooking class, I got really brave and decided to try. Oh I like this a lot. Why don’t I just continue
doing this next year? I thought that would be fun! Learn some more things all that! – [Ne’Osha Voiceover] If
you’re going out there, seeing the world, you gotta at least know how to do, to make something that
looks really boring, to something really nice. You can say I did this, and I learned it at Cedar Ridge.
